The Supervisory Training Program (STP) is designed for individuals who are transitioning into supervisory roles or seeking to enhance their leadership abilities as supervisors. While they are provided with the equipment, materials and personnel they need, they are too often left without the most important tool — the knowledge to manage, motivate and direct their teams.


This training program has been designed to help you become a more effective supervisor in the construction industry. By training you in the various aspects of successful communication, productivity, and time management – among other things – this course will help you build the skills necessary to expertly coach, connect with, and create a safe and respectful working environment for your team.

Course Objectives

 

By training you in the various aspects of successful communication, productivity, and time management – among other things – this course will help you build the skills necessary to expertly coach, connect with, and create a safe and respectful working environment for your team. 

Effective Communication
  •  Understand the importance of communication skills
  •  Recognize the characteristics of an effective communicator
  •  Design clear and concise messages
  •  Understand and develop strategies to resolve typical communication problems
  •  Understand how your behaviour affects communications with your crew
  •  Use strategies for modifying negative behaviour
  •  Use strategies for dealing with rumours, discipline, and counselling issues

 Workplace Respect

  • Awareness of the legal responsibilities associated with respect in the workplace
  • Knowledge of how a respectful workplace is defined
  • Understanding personal accountability as an employee for building and maintaining a respectful workplace
  • Identifying the signs and understanding the consequences of ‘disrespectful behaviour
  • Clarity of what to do if you have experienced, witnessed, or become aware of unacceptable behaviour

 Managing Time & Priorities
